The OptiFlow® RM

The OptiFlow RM brings the ReidSleeve® tissue gradient technology to patients in Ready Made (RM) standard sizing. The OptiFlow RM is a less expensive and effective addition to the treatment options available to the lymphedema patient. The OptiFlow RM utilizes the Tissue Gradient Technology® (U.S. Patent 5,916,183) that has proven so effective in the ReidSleeve Classic.

The ReidSleeve Classic has helped thousands of patients overcome lymphedema. The ReidSleeve Classic is a custom made garment used at night, replacing bandaging. Peninsula Medical is now offering standard sizing in the OptiFlow RM. Standard sizing eliminates the lengthy lead times often associated with custom garments. Additionally, the cost is significantly lower with standard sizes and makes the OptiFlowRM more affordable for patients with limited or no insurance coverage.

Advantages

Patients have reported increased comfort and more consistent compression, while gaining the proven advantages of the high and low pressure points of the Tissue Gradient Technology. This patented design provides variable tissue pressure, while maximizing compression, softening tissue, and minimizing the obstruction of normal lymphatic and venous flow.

Bandages and wraps can be very useful, but do have some limitations. First, bandages and wraps are often difficult to apply properly and consistently. Second, the pressure applied may encircle, constrict, and/or obstruct normal lymphatic and venous flow. The OptiFlow RM helps overcome to these problems. This unique system provides effective and comfortable compression therapy for lymphedema patients.

Cooler and Lighter Weight

The OptiFlow RM is a lightweight, cooler and slimmer garment than the ReidSleeve Classic. It is an ideal option for patients with mild to moderate lymphedema.

The OptiFlow RM is also an effective complement to Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT). The OptiFlow RM can help the patient effectively maintain their edema reduction achieved through CDT.

The Opera

Our newest addition to the OptiFlow family is The Opera! (U.S. Patent 5,916,183) The Opera is lighter and slimmer than the other existing OptiFlow products. The Opera maintains the original concept of the patented tissue gradient technology found in the ReidSleeve Classic. The Opera simply slides on for the comforting and consistent pressure you have come to expect from the ReidSleeve Classic. Variable compression is obtained through the patented outer PowerSleeve (U.S. Patent 6,656,141).

The ReidSleeve Classic has helped thousands of patients overcome lymphedema. As these patients achieved control of their lymphedema, we sought for a lighter and cooler sleeve to provide therapeutic maintenance. The OptiFlow products achieve this objective. To take this a step further, The Opera was developed to offer a yet lighter and slimmer product. The custom unit construction provides a consistent snug fit and adjustable compression is obtained by the outer PowerSleeve. The PowerSleeve comes in several levels of compression, allowing the patient to adjust the pressure to the ideal level.

The foam insert provides both high and low pressure points. This patented design concept provides variable tissue pressure, maximizing compression while minimizing the obstruction of normal lymphatic flow. With older technologies, the pressure applied encircled and constricted normal lymphatic and venous flow. This unique system provides effective, comfortable compressive therapy for lymphedema.

Many patients have mild lymphedema and do not require the full therapeutic compression provided by the ReidSleeve Classic. For these patients, The OptiFlow products are ideal. The Opera provides the same Tissue Gradient Technology of the ReidSleeve Classic and the other OptiFlow products, but does so in a lighter and slimmer design. Despite the fact that it is light and easy to use, many patients report significant reductions in their edema as a result of the use of The Opera. Therefore, if your lymphedema is mild, The Opera may be the ideal solution for your condition.

The Opera is also an effective compliment to CDT (complex decongestive therapy). The Opera can help the patient effectively maintain the edema reduction achieved through decongestive massage. Many therapists are now recommending the use of The Opera during periods between CDT.
